Skeetfield Dimensions

recruit hunter wild

The skeetfield has eight shooting stations and two trap houses. There is also a center target. Seven shooting stations are located in a half-moon area between the trap houses. One station is directly between them. In a skeet match, the high house targets are thrown from a trap 10 feet off the ground, rising to 15 feet by the center of the field. The trap that is 3-1/2 feet above ground will hold the low house targets, which rise to 15ft.

Skeet field structure

A skeetround is comprised of 25 targets. These targets are shot from eight stations. There are seven targets on each side, and one at the base. The skeet field can be divided into two sections. The high and low houses correspond to the relative positions of target throwing machines. One section is known as the high house, while the other is called the low. The shooting stations in a skeet round vary in length, width, and height from the starting point to the last target.

Skeet targets

The skeetfield has eight shooting stations, two traphouses, and an elevated target. The trap house on left is the high house. It throws clay targets from a height 10 feet. It does so at a slightly upward angle, while the low house throws the clay from a height of three feet and a steeper angle than the high house. The ideal skeet field should be at least eighty feet in length and forty-five foot wide.

Skeet targets sequences

Although the International Skeet field has the same dimensions as the American Skeet field, the targets are larger and can be thrown faster. The target is delayed by 0-3 second and shooters must use a low gun to hit them. Since 1968, the International Skeet was an Olympic sport. In addition to the traditional skeet field, there are many variations on the shooting sequences.

skeet face-hugger choke

The dotted lines in the image below hint at the original circle that a Skeet uses for its design. This original circle is still in use today. However, the face-hugger needs to be extremely open to achieve desired effects. While this choke can be easily broken, it is not a beginner's weapon. This choke requires an upgraded cylinder choke. To reach a skeet goal, lead is required

There are many ways to determine how much leads are needed to break a target's skeet range. The first is sustained lead. It requires that you keep your muzzle pointed at the target so that it does not move away from it. This works best if you know the distance you'll be shooting. This second method requires you to use a constant set of lead, but it is important to keep in mind that you will need additional lead for shooting at Skeet distances.

After each shot, keep your gun moving

Focus your finger on the gun's frame when you practice the art of aim. You should not place your shooting finger on the trigger when you prepare to fire the gun. The gun's bottom frame is what the gun is made of. To fire the gun, it is essential that your thumb rests against the frame. When you are ready to fire, wrap your index finger and thumb around the frame and press firmly.
